Dear brother Durrani,

AsSalaamuAlaikum; insha-Allah that you are fine.

Here is my sighting report:

For a few days before Friday (Mohib's Comments: 26 Sep, 2003),
I tried to sight Venus. Since I knew that the moon will be very close
to Venus and to the upper left of it on Friday (26th of September);
this helped me tremendously.

On Thursday (Mohib's Comments: 25 Sep, 2003), I went to a spot
(in North Logan, UT) where I could see the western horizon without
the complications due to a mountain range to the southwest of Logan.
I spotted Venus and kept its relative place in mind.

On Friday (Mohib's Comments: 26 Sep, 2003), the sky was clear but a
bit hazy due to the fires in the state. Using a pair of binoculars
(7X50), I sighted the moon on the upper left of Venus in North Logan.

My first sighting was at 7:29 pm; I could see it till it sat at about 7:50 pm.
The moon horns were at 2:30 and 6:30 O'clock. I also sighted it with a pair
of 10X50 binoculars.

When I got home I checked the weather conditions from the local airport
and the following is that data: Humidity 47%, Pressure 30.10", Dew point
42F, visibility 10 miles, and temperature 63F at 7:51 pm MDT.

Local sunset was at 7:20 pm.

I tried naked eye sighting with no success, however.

The next day, it was about 2:34 pm that I attempted sighting
the moon and I saw it then.

The elevation of Logan is 1371 meters (4500
feet) and the city is located at 41?45' N 111?49' W.

Please let me know if you had further questions.

Thanks.

Moltames-e-doa,

Javad
